One of the funnest nights of the last week was our end-of-the-year party with the soccer guys at our house. We give encouragement and gifts to the seniors, I make some certificates for MVPs and such, and this year the guys gave me a gift too; the framed team pic you can see above. This is a special group of guys. I had the six seniors on the team for four years straight and the really lifted the level of play and provided leadership for our younger guys. Looking forward to seeing those guys when we get back to Malawi next year.
Graduation at the academy was also a bittersweet evening. This group of five seniors was especially close with each other and with Becca and me. I'm sorta' in charge of making the ceremony happen, and thankfully it went smoothly. I get the chance to talk about the kids briefly and that was a meaningful time for me. I miss these kids a lot and it's wierd to think that we'll head back to Malawi next year and they won't be there too. The young lady in the picture below is Nell, the oldest daughter of the Spencer family who we are very close to. They're our family in Malawi. She's a missionary kid who was born in Malawi, graduated this past June and is at Letorneau University in Texas. She is a young lady who Becca has invested a lot of time with, and we miss her a lot.
