We headed up to Northern California in the middle of August, and it's been a great three months up here thus far. I jumped right into helping out with a club soccer team up here, coached by our good friend Don Busboom, who married us back in 2007. It's a U-16 team in the Mustang organization, a big club here in Danville. I started getting my stuff in to apply for substitute teaching in the district up here. I've been doing that once or twice a week over the last few months, mostly at San Ramon Valley High School where Don teaches. He invited me to also help him out coaching the varsity boys at SRV, and the season got underway a couple weeks ago. What a gift this has been for me. I get to do some coaching, learn from Don, hang out with the guys on both teams, and keep a bit of fitness too.
Becca has been spending a lot of time with Yami and really taking care of the house. Trips to the park, grocery store, visiting with friends, and taking care of almost all the cooking are consuming most of her time. She is so gracious in all of it and I enjoy watching her thrive in this role at home. She has been able to connect with long-time friends and enjoy their young kids too. We really enjoy hanging out with Pop and Agogo (Greg and Debbie, Becca's parents) and Uncle Amen (Aaron). Yami got a year pass to the Oakland Zoo for his birthday, from Pop and Agogo, so we've been there a few times.
We had a birthday party for Yami a couple weeks ago at the Hibbs' house to celebrate Yami's second birthday. The theme was Barnyard Dance and Becca really put a lot of effort into making our first birthday with Yami a special one. Wierd to think that we've had Yami almost one full year, as of November 30th. What a joy he has been to us, and an incredible testament to God's grace and providence for us as a family.
